Y...is for Yellow!!!

I'm almost finished with this madcap sew-a-long

Today is Y.
Not the big existential Y questions.
but just the cheery little ones.

I'm joining Katy as she stitches
through all 26 of the letters of the alphabet.

Today is all about yelling.
Yelling, for Yellow.

It's SPRING!!
It's here. It's really here.
And we made it.

Each year as the endless winter
fights for one more day of grey,
I hang on for the yellow.

This year we took a trip so I
was slightly less manic with the sunshine crave.
But when it came out...

Every fiber in my body exhaled.
And the happy dance was on a molecular level.

Pu, the biggest of the Little's
asked for a yellow dress.
Then it morphed into a yellow turtleneck.
Then it changed and changed and...
then she didn't want it anymore.

 Le sigh.

(Even though she looks innocent, I think she's probably thinking about perpetrating a wedgie.)

But we had bought this very bright,
super soft bamboo on a big girl date.

So I sewed it up,
and some sister somewhere will rock
the YELLow.

'Cause we made it to spring,
and it ought to be celebrated!
 Did you make it too?

H is for...

I am playing along with Katy from
nobigdill.com as she
Sews through the 26 letters of the alphabet.

Today is inspired by "H".

 Hello!

I had high hopes that "H"
would be all about Halloween.

However, my 3 Littles are fickle.
It was this, then definitely that...

I was waiting with 2 Littles

for the fabric
store to open,
hatching a costume plan when...

I found myself across the street
from a second hand store.

You know what's easier than making
Halloween costumes????

NOT making them :)

The Littlest will be a ladybug.
I could never make something this cute!!

And the rest of us are all witches.

Until it changes again.
So...

A little shirt for Nu.

This is possibly the cutest jersey
I have ever seen.
Organic. Yum.

It's called Elk Grove by Jay-Cyn designs
for Birch Organic Fabrics.
Heart.

It's a simple peasant top with shirred sleeves
(in the later photos)

Although I love-me-some peasant top/dress
I think a more defined pattern would have
taken the cute up a notch.

Dag Nabbit you alphabet and your 26 letters!
Haste makes the cuteness factor slump.

This should help.

Happy Halloween!!!

(also BOO!)

Don't Leave a New Mother Unattended With a Bag of Wool...

Poor Yu.

Only a few days on this planet,
and already she's being forced into...
hat modelling.

When she was born The Sweetie was in charge of
her first bath.
The nurse impressed upon him the need
for little newborns to wear hats during bath time
and ALL the time,
so they stay toasty.

The Sweetie really took this to heart.
In the first few days of Yu's life
The Sweetie could be found searching for hats
under covers, under beds...

"Where's her hat? She might get cold!!!"
 he would proclaim.

And so,
held hostage by recovery I took up the hook.

I think she's dismayed.
What is this ridiculous thing upon my noggin?!
(it's all in the eyes)

And then there was a little top knot action.

And of course the double knot
(can't get enough of ears on babies)

I'd like to say that's all the hats,
but really this is a hostage situation.
I can't be expected to act rationally.

Pu got a knitted kitty hat with ears,
and Nu is getting a matching crocheted beanie.

Oh my.
