S is for... Scarf

Today is an S day.

Well, that's not entirely true,
however...

I am playing along with Katy from
nobigdill.com as she
sews through the 26 letters of the alphabet &:

This week's overdue stitches are inspired by the letter "S".

If you are a purest, I have forsaken you.
Arguably crochet and knit
don't fall into the sewing category
so perhaps I'm cheating.

It isn't the first time,
it won't be the last.

I'm adopting the rules of Fight Club
The first rule : There are no rules.

Ok, maybe that's NOT an actual
rule of fight club, but if I were to start a
craft version of Fight Club,
that would be my t-shirt.

Sidebar:
Ninja's would totally be welcome in
my craftastic fight club.

Well why not?
Just like every other group
there are probably some real
Ninja jerks,
but also some excellent Ninja future friends.
Just waiting for a hug.

It's possible this post is more relevant
to Ninja's or people contemplating a
future career in Ninja skills training
than Stitchers.

That being said,
just in case you're not here for that,
I used Delia's pattern for my purple friend above
and it was painless, easy and quick...

Just like a Ninja assassination.
(full circle).

In the armpit of chaos

That is where I dwell these days.

Lately I wear this there.

This photo was taken while bouncing a baby
(see carrier strap).

This is what I do.
I am a perpetual motion machine.

Today this chunky cowl serves to keep out the winter chill.

On other days it serves as a textured neck brace.

Surely with three kids under 4.5 I should have expected
to be whipping my head to-and-fro.

Lately more so.

Sweet Purple Hooker

I lost my favorite scarf.
It plagues me so.

In the meantime, I am carrying my wee babe
in a bizarre assortment of contraptions.
Each one far more elaborate than the last.
Each one requiring some sort of new-fangled way to get dressed.

This sweet aubergine scarf/shawl

has got me covered.
No matter what I've got on underneath.
It also keeps my little one under wraps.

Oh, and it matches my new hair :)

More of the Yarn Tales

This cheeky monkey likes purple.

So although I made some of these in blue...

Purple also make the cut.

I also added purple pom poms to the ends of
the kitty ear hat.

And then one of these for me.
I bought one on etsy and wore it
every day.
Then it was liberated from a women's WC.
Criminal.
So after the etsy vendor went MIA-
I made it myself!

It fits me better, but I'm definatley not this cute.
Even on a showered day.

Don't Leave a New Mother Unattended With a Bag of Wool...

Poor Yu.

Only a few days on this planet,
and already she's being forced into...
hat modelling.

When she was born The Sweetie was in charge of
her first bath.
The nurse impressed upon him the need
for little newborns to wear hats during bath time
and ALL the time,
so they stay toasty.

The Sweetie really took this to heart.
In the first few days of Yu's life
The Sweetie could be found searching for hats
under covers, under beds...

"Where's her hat? She might get cold!!!"
 he would proclaim.

And so,
held hostage by recovery I took up the hook.

I think she's dismayed.
What is this ridiculous thing upon my noggin?!
(it's all in the eyes)

And then there was a little top knot action.

And of course the double knot
(can't get enough of ears on babies)

I'd like to say that's all the hats,
but really this is a hostage situation.
I can't be expected to act rationally.

Pu got a knitted kitty hat with ears,
and Nu is getting a matching crocheted beanie.

Oh my.

A Little Travel Craftiness

I'm about to hit the trails and was mourning the future loss of my sewing machine.
So, I decided I needed something portable to keep me busy
and quiet the mind

So, I thought I'd try a little of this

Not having the first clue I thought I'd purchase a little of this

Only after trying to decode the secret language of crochet I had seven small aneurysms and then yelled over the fence for my crocheting neighbour to defibrillate my consciousness

She then tells me after staring into the Latin that was my instruction manual
that she just makes it up
So I started winging it and got this

This is weirdly addictive.
I don't know what has possessed me, doilies and now crocheting with Tweedlebug tiny mini thread

This could be a cry for help.
No wait,
if this IS the beginning of a miniature downward spiral
I guess I would spell out the word 'help'
in microscopic Barbie eyelashes
