A bird house

Finished the Betz White workshop with this little combo

Can't seem to take a decent picture of it

I skipped a few super cute steps for the sake of time
but I learned a few things

always good to feed the brain.
bird, or otherwise.

Another Reinvention Skirt

I really love this design from http://mayamade.blogspot.com/

I also really love this time of year

I think I'm supposed to be full of woe because the summer is waning

But why?
 Crisp air, everything smells gorgeous.
The Harvest is in.
Sweet bliss.

Little Birds

Look who flew into town

Hi guys!

So soft and fluffy

Little Bits

I am loving using every little thing these days.
I've been cutting up t-shirts and building skirts
and more skirts
soon there will be shirts.

This kerchief was a little bit left
amazingly it fits Nu's giant cranium!
and tames her mop top.

Then a little dog house repair

If only I would repair it
But for now, a little banner coverage

It used to be tiled but no matter what glue I use
the tiles keep falling off

Hot glue,
silicone
etc
etc
When the glue fails
let the stitches prevail!

This is a roof top garden dog house
but it doesn't get enough love to rock.

It's badly placed to sustain many happy plants
And the cat likes it more than the dog.

Nonetheless,
I love the idea
and until we have a garden on our grown up roof
it stays.
Our imaginary roof is pretty crowded with the solar panels
and the goat
and the hot tub
and the gazebo
and my sweetie wants a turret...

Banner Lace Embellishment & Skirt Swish

We have a little nook
A place to watch the world
Kids tucked in
Garden watered
All well in our tiny window on the world
We sit

And now this pretties it up a wee bit

Clearly the bench needs some love too.

And then a couple of bibs for Krista

My Lumps Strapless Top

The immortal quest for a strapless bra
that actually holds the ladies is place
happily
reasonably
without a lot of fanfare
or hoopla
has staggered me.

I do not believe it exists.

In lieu I have a strapless dress that fits.
In fact two that were made by the same person years ago
and
they ROCK
they are strapless and oh soooo comfy
Also- cute
Fantasticness you say?

Well no.
They are just not the wear everyday, everywhere
with two small children kind of dresses

At least not for me
Someone foxier might swing it,
but I'm all about kid around my neck these days
and I wouldn't want to de-bone Nu or Pu
with the actual boning in my frock

So I thought
copy it
build it and they will...
well stay in place I guess.

But no!!!

I think I actually had a panic attack trying to get out of this today.

I made it without a pattern
I SORT of copied the awesome dresses
and then I tried harder to REALLY copy them.
I added boning in the right places
I vaguely measured
I added mystery darts in places where it might help

Alas the bumps were not happy
Cute enough
but not comfy enough
I can not crack the hump code

Girls and our curves
good and evil all wrapped up in one

"Lumps, humps, bumps
why won't you stand up, sit down and stay where I toss you?!"

(imagine fist waving at sky)

A Four Letter "F" word....Felt

I'm getting ready for a Betz White e-workshop in felt
and so I tried making these

I love them!

Little felt beads

Soft,

Unassuming

A little hairy

but bright

Just like some of my favorite people!

Also felted soap.
Love the colours
so tactile
and good for the dirty birds I know.

Towel Attire

So simple, so silly.
When Pu gets out of the water
there is often screaming.
It is loud
and full of profound
existential
 angst.
It also has to do with being cold
also,
getting dressed
and so

A terry cloth wrap from our rattiest towels

a wee one for Nu because she's learning from her sister

And a larger one for Pu
I couldn't resist a little ric rac

Let the shrieking continue
and may it be just one decibel quieter
my ears are still bleeding

Felt Food

The loose plan is to make a garden of felt food and flowers
On a detachable fabric wall that I can hang
On my IKEA igloo tent.

Today Pu and I started the effort

We made a row of carrots Pu stuffing, me sewing.

However, once we had our vegetables we needed a sweet fix

Then there were
 these to smell

This to bake

These to freeze

And these to eat

Not to mention some unruly bubble hunting
that needed to be attended to

And these guys were all on a tight

nap schedule

Such sweet summertime

Play Tent

Here's today's project

A play tent for Pu and Nu

The tutorial at 2littlehooligans.blogspot.com suggested using bedsheets
I still had some of this IKEA material kicking around
And, I'm trying to de-hoard my fabric stash

As you can see, it's a little short.

A success nonetheless and a little tweaking will right it

Best part from the kid's perspective was the pocket
So I'll add a few more

I loved that once we were inside all the butterfly graphics were back lit by the sun

All luminous and cozy

Nature in &
Nature out

Yeah summer!

And when it rains this can move inside for a portable play palace.
