J is for...jump!

I am playing along with Katy from
nobigdill.com as she
Sews through the 26 letters of the alphabet.

This week's stitches are inspired by the letter "J".

See these guys here:

Yup those are the ones.

You can dress them up,
but they are still very wiggly.

And these ones: Leap-y too.

This cheeky monkey,

likes,
very much,

to jump.

To climb,
to leap
onto and off of things,
 even people.

(Rae pants, with Anna Maria  Horner Lou Lou Thi fabric)

I guess most kids do.

This one,

started very slowly with the jumping

and now she's making up for lost time.

These two egg each other on.

There are puddles,
and leaves,
and life
to be jumped into.

It's going pretty slow and fast this kid thing.

You jump on each other,
and out jumps a baby.
Then (in my case) two more.

And then you spend looooong minutes
and short years
  jumping from
baby to toddler to teen etc.

From what I understand,
you jump down, turn around and it's all over.

I'm all for the leaping, and jumping.

I find myself jumping
from little questions to big ideas,

and of course jumping through
weird technicolour internal hoops
of my own
design.

In the flurry of leaping from moment to moment
there is not much down time to contemplate it all.

I'd like to stick all the good stuff in a bag
and carry it into my dotage.

I'd love to later,
when I'm batty and crotchety
reach into all these potent moments
that feel like they are leaping at jet speed into the ether-
and braid them into my memory.

I'd love to slow down all the Little's big jumps,
and watch them again in slow-mo.

And then,
I'd like to lift my feet

fall back and jump into the place
 that catches us all.

Slouch no more!

"Sunshine... no rain
Pump it up, pump it up..."

This is my slouchy hat,
off the needles and on the head.

And these are some cheeky monkeys
that made it out into the sun.

I can't believe what a miracle the sun is
here in the Pacific Northwest at this time of year.

We were all one day away from cracking up
completely.

And just then, when all hope was lost the sky tsunami
abated and a yellow orb lifted from the horizon.

Are you familiar with this glowy sky ball?
I vaguely recollect it from some past life.

Thanks glowy sky ball!!

KCWC: Day 5. Would you like some fries with that shake?

 Oh she looks innocent enough...

but this bootie is on the move.

Up the stairs any chance she gets.

She has a little buddy who need his can
covered too.

I built in some permanent pocket pals...

which made for an unruly 'photo shoot'.
( more like a photo fling)

I guess it was a little odd that I de-panted her.

But she's used to a little odd.
She's got me after all.

KCWC Day 3 : More tops baby.

As part of KCWC I whipped off another top.

It has become clear (again) that Pu will no longer
conform to my sewing will.

So Nu and Yu will have to be my sewing victims.

The dress I posted this week, will unlikely be worn again.
(DRAMATIC sigh)

So, deeply in love with the material,
I added it to this shirt for Nu.

Perfect beach combing attire.

The Full Body Condom

Nu is full of life and vigor.
She is also fearless and loves to live dangerously.

She's even capable of making the lowly Hippo wild and crazy.

In the past I've written about bubble wrapping
my death- defying leaping middle child.

I've even gone so far as literally

Well, she also has exema
and is not one to calmly surrender
to the band aid or the cream
that protects her ouchy spots.

She lifts up her shirt and rips her bandaid off,
or absent mindly itches away.
This week she broke the skin for the first time.
Ouch.

By the time a kid is 2, most clothing companies have decided
a 'romper' is not dignified enough for anyone older.

Or, that's my take on it.
So I made her one so she couldn't access her ouch.

It's already covered in food.
(As it should be,
'cause life tastes good to this one).

It's impossible for her to rip off,
which protects her patch, but confounds her mind.

It sports a gigantic orange button on it
which we have told her is a sunshine button.

Ten bucks says she's ripped it off by tomorrow.

It's good for plotting her big sisters undoing.

Leaping, climbing, falling down and mostly...

good for a mom who wants to wrap her in a soft jersey life.

A Cheater Quilt

I'm a little in love with purple these days.

I have always been in love with velvet.

The sweetie and I have moved into another room for post kid-bedtime
movie watching.
And, we have been battling over the lone blanket.
Velvet to the rescue.

These photos don't really tell the tale.

What with grey skies and a strap on baby-
my photography skills have surrendered to the ether.

One side is purple velvet and a few squares quilted,
the reverse side is blue velvet.

Who dares to speak against the velvet???!!

Pumpkin power, the kind that wears a cape.

A little poncho/cape for Yu (modelled by Pu).

Because really, a poncho is just a blanket.
And, why NOT avoid sleeves with wee ones?!

This can apparently be worn by all three sisters.
Though, the oldest one is the only one who can stand still
for a snap.

This gets Yu all cozy and can go over all the car seat
rig-a-ma-roll.

Here's a snap of Pu in her matching purple.
And Yu in a couple of home made blankets.

Of course it's this season.

So today we marched around 'the pumpkin patch".
We ate pumpkin pie and orchard apples.
And, it wasn't pouring so it rocked.
For a kiddling- activity.

We adapted last years strategy and went with a couple of
small pumpkins, instead of the overlord of pumpkins.

Last year the sweetie almost lost his dignity dragging that behemoth
through the mud and tears last year.

(his tears)

(OK, maybe they were crying on the inside tears)

(or more likely my tears of hysteria)

Wishing you the happiest of Thanksgivings.
I'm feeling 3 times as thankful these days.
