Play Nice Grown Ups!

These are alomost done
It spells "playing"on front and back

Now the next step is to find the right place to hang them.

My fantasy is to hang this up high (much higher than this photo) so people drive under the banner when they are racing down our alley.
However...
there is the garbage truck, and the garbage truck drivers to be contended with.

In this picture to the left you can see the edge of our Guerrilla Garden. Every once in a while the garbage truck takes out the corner of our little rock bed which, in the spring is filled with tomatoes and flowers...
So I think they might take out these flags for good measure.

My hope is this will function a little like a prayer flag and send good vibes floating through the neighbourhood.
Maybe this will turn the garbage into goodness

If I can't hang this up high maybe along my neighbours fence...
In which case I'll have to figure out how to make it really stick so it's not liberated.
Maybe I'm only half Guerrilla.

Tie one On

I'm loving covering my own buttons

It's such an easy way to add a little somethin' somethin'

These buttons then turned into hair ties
....ok ok, I know, enough already with the bird thing.

Tweet Tweet, Twiddle Twiddle

And then there are these little guys

Who are better colours than they appear

For something along these lines

Check out the cool felt acorns! They came from my sister in law Connie, and just needed a home.

This is my first attempt at using interfacing to stabilize, I may try the fusable stuff to assemble le elements of my bird stack.

SLOW KIDS PLAYING, I mean Slow, Kids Playing, Ah...a classic!

Some new elements for a pennant I'm going to attempt to hang over our alley in the hopes that drivers will chillax and not run over Pu and Nu as they draw chalk monsters

If they don't get the slow down part on their own, worst case scenario is it's an invitation to engage in a good time.

Foxy Boxy

Wicked!
I will make exactly one million of these.

Pu Pants, Ah Choo and a brave Rabbit

I can't stop publishing pictures of these crazy pants. I'm done with them now that they have a waistband, but here's an action shot

It should be said that the above bunny, who's name is Charlie needed surgery today. I stitched her/him up while Pu kept saying "Charlie want's to sit up".
In the middle of surgery??? Charlie is clearly very brave.
Needless to stay, Charlie has Frankenstitches and can now never be a rabbit Supermodel. S/he can still be a hand/paw model I guess.
Apparently there is lots of cash to be made in the land of dishsoap commercials.

Oh yah, I made another one of these while teaching Pu about the dangers of putting fingers under the needle.
She helped me take out pins and still has all her digits.

What's good for the Goose

Today I added a ruffle to my oldest ratty jeans.

They have always been too long unless I'm in stilettos.
 I don't own stilettos.
They are surrendering and today, I cut off the bottoms and added the same ruffle I added to Nu's wears.
I think, therefore in the most formal of sewing terms, I gave my ass a facelift.

I also started working on some labels and printed these on ink jet fabric paper
Except my printer said it didn't have any ink, so not in colour, or even in true black and white

Excuse the gardening fingernail

I did a super-fast colour job with a coloured sharpie. Wonder what will happen in the wash?

The Banner

I made a mixed medium banner a la http://ruthrae.blogspot.com/

Some hand stamping on linen, sewing, 3d stuffed fabric pieces, hand felting, beading, embellished with this and that.
I used some of my partners music pages and some lace from a thrift store.
I love that the elements all have a little individual story that when put together take on a new narrative.
In the first letter I included a pearl that I 'won' at Sea World with my dad in the 70's. It's been kicking around my jewellry box and has now evolved into a found object in the birds nest.

Upgrade the Onesies

A simple patch of funky material sexes these up.

The first two, which are the least favorite are for Nu, the next three for my friend T who loves the chocolate brown with devotion equal to my own.

New Shirt

My love affair with sweet sweet cashmere continues.
I know there are probably laws about cutting cashmere. But sometimes, I'm naughty.
This is the final product. I little tank top with ruffle embellishment and armwarmers.

I know armwarms are borderline weird, but I can't help myself. I should include a snap of the back, it's argyle. It started as a thrift shop long sleeved pink and blue argyle sweater.
This was the front, and is now the back

He She Ruffle Goodness

I got these little dude pants on sale and girled them up ever so slightly with a ruffle.

I can't abide head to toe in pink, but I confess to a side of girly

I also reengineered my adult diapers and put a waist band on them. They are getting cuter and more functional. Then I altered a new top that I got from my one of my favorite designers smokinglily.com. It was 50% off but way too big. So I did many things. Many things that I really have no business doing. In the end, I really like it. I also covered some buttons with fabric to embellish it. Photo later.

Heads and Tails

Tonight I whipped up two projects and made a mockery of them both.
The first is this pretty cute knot ear hat from http://originalandrea.blogspot.com/. I messed it up one hundred times.

Though very serious in this shot- perhaps perfecting her Magnum, this model is not that picky.

The next attempt was this wool diaper cover from http://sewingdork.blogspot.com/search/label/tutorials
but I gotta say....they said the bigger the sweater the bigger the cover, but...I think this may be for an adult diaper. I actually tried to put it on because it's so ridiculously HUGE. I may have to repurpose this repurposed sweater again for something more useful.

I tired it on Pu and the waist was huge. I will modify. What was an attempt at an applique flower with three buds, turned into a disfigured google eyed beast on the junk in the trunk. It was cuter when it was on then I expected, but the waist needs a waistband.

Below is the altered version with waistband and having murdered the third eye

So Fun! These were weird dog onesies pre makeover

Learned how to make a ruffle to funk up old onesies at blueeyedfreckle.blogspot.com. Then just added a patch over Patches.

one more row of ruffle to add here!

Sweet Garden

Some of these were planted by me, the photos are by the sweetie.
